Important Gem 1919-S Half Dollar
1919-S 50C MS65 PCGS. This amazing Gem is fully brilliant with frosty silver luster and minimal surface marks preventing a higher grade. Subliminal gold toning is present on the obverse. Slight central weakness is evident only on the obverse. Although the Denver Mint half dollar coined this year receives much more attention due to its conditional rarity, the 1919-S is also an elusive issue in top grades, as the population data indicates. A review of the PCGS Set Registry for Walking Liberty half dollars indicates that this coin will improve at least five of the top 10 current sets, with two other sets not viewable on the PCGS website. Population: 38 in 65, 11 finer (8/07).(Registry values: N4719)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 24R2, PCGS# 6579, GSID# 6720)
