Description

Condition and Strike Rarity
1927-S Walker, MS65

1927-S 50C MS65 PCGS. CAC. Most 1927-S half dollars immediately went into circulation to support commercial business needs. Those that did not are condition as well as sometime strike rarities. While this example is not fully struck through the centers, its strike is clearly superior to the usually encountered Mint State specimen. Liberty's left hand and adjacent branches display at least partial definition. The surface preservation is immaculate, with strong luster and light copper-gray and russet toning on both sides. Some light die striations, as made, show above the sun on the obverse. There are no abrasions of any consequence visible. A superior coin for a fine Gem date set, and an extremely elusive issue. Population: 54 in 65, 6 finer (4/09).(Registry values: N4719)
