1927-S Walking Liberty Half Dollar, MS66
    Tied for Finest at PCGS

1927-S 50C MS66 PCGS. CAC. The 1927-S Walking Liberty half dollar claims a mintage of just under 2.4 million pieces and most examples seen are softly struck, with excessive surface marks. Examples that grade MS66 are very rare, and the 1927-S is unknown in finer grades. The present coin is a spectacular Premium Gem, with virtually pristine, mostly brilliant surfaces that radiate vibrant, frosty mint luster and show attractive highlights of pale gold toning. The strike is better-than-average, but shows the usual softness on Liberty's wreath hand and the eagle's leg. Overall visual appeal is terrific. Population: 8 in 66, 0 finer (9/15).(Registry values: N4719)

    Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 24RA, PCGS# 6587)

The Draped Bust Half Dollars of 1796-1797 by Jon Amato

The Draped Bust Half Dollars of 1796-1797 by Jon Amato is the culmination of more than 10 years of research into the Draped Bust Small Eagle half dollar series, one of the most coveted type coins in American numismatics and one about which remarkably little has been written.

This work will be the premier reference for 1796-1797 half dollars for years to come. Institutions having an extensive numismatic library or coin cabinet will find it a valuable complement to their holdings, and catalogers charged with writing up specimens for auction can now have an indispensable source of background and pedigree information. Likewise, coin dealers seeking to purchase one or more '96 or '97 half dollars for a client or for inventory, and collectors who own, have owned, or desire to own one will want this important reference work for their libraries.

The outcome of the auction far exceeded my best hopes and would not likely have been as successful with out your sound advice on where to present the coin and how best to set the reserve. Throughout the process your availability , support and knowledge were exceptional.
