Description

1928-S Walking Liberty Half, MS65
Better Date Branch Mint Issue

1928-S 50C MS65 PCGS. CAC. The San Francisco Mint was the only facility to coin Walking Liberty halves between 1922 and 1928. Because of heavy silver dollar production, the 1923-S, 1927-S, and 1928-S were the only issues from that seven-year span, despite a booming economy. All three issues had low mintages, but the 1928-S was the only date with a mintage of less than 2 million pieces. Gems are understandably rare. Lustrous and lightly toned with unabraded fields and a suitable strike. Population: 58 in 65 (1 in 65+), 7 finer. CAC: 17 in 65, 2 finer (6/16).
