1942 Half Dollar, MS68
Stunning Top-Grade Registry Coin

1942 50C MS68 PCGS. In MS68, one expects a coin to be essentially flawless to all but the most trained eyes. Walking Liberty half dollars in particular can be exceedingly attractive in this lofty grade, complemented not only by the undisturbed preservation of the design, but by the typically radiant luster that even Philadelphia and Denver coins exhibit. Yet, such remarkable specimens are rare for even the most common dates overall. The 1942 is no different in that sense; its availability in lower grades does nothing to augment its rarity in MS68, where barely more than two dozen coins are reported, with none finer. This impressive example displays ivory-white, frosty mint bloom with russet, amber, gold, and forest-green peripheral toning. Eye appeal is stunning. Population: 15 in 68 (1 in 68+), 0 finer (6/23).(Registry values: N1793)
