    Description

Gem 1932-D Quarter With CAC Approval
One of Six Such Examples of This Key

1932-D 25C MS65 PCGS Secure. CAC. It is only at the Gem level where the key 1932-D Washington quarter becomes truly elusive, although any Mint State example is a prize to treasure for collectors of this popular series. As the capstone of this fine and renowned PCGS Registry Set, this quarter already has, we suspect, the attention of quite a few series specialists. PCGS has certified only 63 examples of the 1932-D in the MS65 grade, and only a single coin, graded MS66 by PCGS, is finer (11/12).
The present Gem 1932-D, with the CAC approval in addition, is one of only six PCGS Gems with the CAC green bean added on. The piece completely holds its own, exhibiting full frosty luster over surfaces that show light accents of lavender and amber amid the prevailing silver tones. A few scattered marks on the lower bust of Washington are away from the prime focal points and well within the context of the Gem grade. The reverse shows few marks of any size, with accents of gold and ruby near the rims. The successful bidder on this coin can claim bragging rights to one of the finest examples save for the sole MS66 PCGS example, which brought $143,750 in its last auction offering (Bowers & Merena, 4/2008, lot 322).
