Gem 1934 Doubled Die Quarter Dollar

1934 25C Doubled Die Obverse MS66 PCGS. Breen-4272. In recent years, a number of new Doubled Die and Tripled Die varieties have been discovered and announced with great excitement. Most of those, however, require substantial magnification to properly identify. There are still only a few Doubled Die varieties, such as this 1934 quarter dollar variety, that may be seen without the aid of a magnifier. IN GOD WE TRUST is the most visible location of the doubling on this obverse die. Another important consideration is that these widely doubled varieties are easy enough to spot that the rarity, or lack there of, is quickly determined. In this case, the variety has been known for many years, yet few have been identified. Therefore, we believe that this is established as a rarity in the series. It is also listed in the Guide Book, also memorializing the variety. This Gem is fully brilliant and lustrous with only a trace of champagne toning over silvery-white surfaces.(#5795) (Registry values: P1) (NGC ID# 244A, PCGS# 5795)
