    Description

    1943-S Washington Quarter, MS66+
    Guide Book Doubled Die Obverse

1943-S 25C Doubled Die Obverse, FS-101, MS66+ PCGS. CAC. This Plus-graded Premium Gem shows strong doubling on the motto, LIBERTY, designer's initials, and the date, identifying this rare Cherrypickers variety. The doubling was noticed at a fairly early date and the variety has been listed in the Guide Book since the 1979 edition. Examples are prized by collectors and always command large premiums. The present coin exhibits well-detailed design elements and impeccably preserved, mostly brilliant surfaces, with just a few subtle hints of golden-tan toning. Vibrant satiny mint luster blends with traces of prooflike reflectivity in selected areas and eye appeal is outstanding. Population: 14 in 66 (4 in 66+), 0 finer. CAC: 11 in 66, 0 finer (6/17). (NGC ID# 2457, Variety PCGS# 145154, Base PCGS# 5823)
