Description
1962-D Quarter, MS67
One of Three Finest at PCGS
1962-D 25C MS67 PCGS. To date, this 1962-D quarter ranks as
one of the three finest (at maximum) PCGS-graded survivors from a
mintage of more than 127.5 million pieces. Surface ticks and/or
impaired luster are the usual culprits that keep the vast majority
of Mint State coins from reaching such exalted grade levels. The
Mint's emphasis was on quantity, not quality, and the coins show
it. The current PCGS Set Registry composition gives a greater
weight, 3 points, to the 1959-PD through 1964-PD issues, than to
the 1947-D, 1947-S, 1952-S, and 1953-S at 2 points each. This is a
simply stunning and flawless coin, untoned save for a faint wash of
gold, pristine and boldly struck throughout. Population: 3 in 67, 0
finer (12/13).(Registry values: N208)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 246R, PCGS# 5873, GSID# 5700)
