Description
1943-S Quarter, MS66+
Doubled Die Obverse
1943-S 25C Doubled Die Obverse, FS-101, MS66+ PCGS. CAC.
This is a long-popular Guide Book variety, showing bold die
doubling on the date, IN GOD WE TRUST, and LIBERTY. The portrait
shows a lesser spread save for the designer's initials, which are
clearly doubled. PCGS has seen a limited number of Mint State
pieces, primarily below MS65. In MS66, FS-101 is rare, and no
Superb Gems are yet attributed at that service. This Plus-graded
Premium Gem is tied for the finest at PCGS. Frosty luster has
traces of champagne toning, and the design elements are boldly
rendered. No major abrasions are observed. For Registry purposes,
this CAC-endorsed Premium Gem is impossible to surpass in a PCGS
holder. Population: 12 in 66 (2 in 66+), 0 finer (2/16).Coin Index Numbers: (Variety PCGS# 145154, Base PCGS# 5823, Greysheet# 374338)
