1823 William Wellesley-Pole Medal. BHM-1211. Bronze, 50.7 mm, 63.1 gm. Dies by Benedetto Pistrucci. Honoring William Wellesley-Pole (1763-1845), the 3rd Earl of Mornington and from 1821 to 1842 The Lord Maryborough. From 1814 to 1823 he served as master of the Mint under Lord Liverpool's government. Obverse: Wellesley-Pole facing right, signed PISTRUCCI at the 6 o'clock rim. Reverse: extensive Latin legends which pay tribute to Wellesley-Pole's nine years as master of the Mint.
