Five-Piece Gem Proof 1913 Germany-Prussia Pattern Set. Schaaf-111, 2 mark pattern, bronze, 28 mm, obv. bust facing left, WILHELM II DEUTSCHER KAISER KOENIG V. PREVSSEN, rev. eagle, shield, and crown, 2 MK 1913, DEUTSCHES REICH, lovely Gem red and brown proof; Schaaf-113, 3 mark pattern, 33 mm, obv. similar but bust faces right, rev. standing eagle with shield under wing, DREI MARK, other legends as before, Gem red and brown proof with jade rim toning; Schaaf-114, 5 mark pattern, 38 mm, obv. helmeted Kaiser Wilhelm II with eagle atop, WILHELM II DEUTSCHER KAISER, rev. similar to previous, denomination 5 MARK, mostly red Gem proof; Schaaf-253, 20 mark pattern, 22 mm, unhelmeted Kaiser facing right, around WILHELM II DEUTSCHER KAISER KOENIG V. PREVSSEN, rev. nude Atlas figure holding crown aloft, eagle at feet, DEUTSCHES REICH 20 MARK, lovely mint red obv. and jade-green rev. patina; Schaaf-253A, 10 mark pattern, 19 mm, obv. similar to Schaaf-114, rev. crown at top, 10 MARK at bottom. All designed by Goetz, in original box of issue. All in Gem proof condition or thereabouts, as struck, with wonderful appeal, lots of mint red remaining, and absolutely no distractions.Auction Info
