Description
Ornately Engraved H.M.S. Alexander Copper Token. A fascinating 18th century piece, hand-engraved on each side. The front has the letters W M / E C, letters separated by sunbursts, with leafy vines between them. The back has an elegantly carved rendition of the H.M.S. Alexander with script SUCCESS TO THE ALEXANDER around. Holed through the center; the front shows a single point of entry, while the reverse shows only tiny break-through but several small depressions, suggestive of tentative attempts to hole the piece.Auction Info
