1866 1C MS66 Red PCGS. CAC. Ex: Joshua and Ally Walsh. A thoroughly appealing Premium Gem for the Indian cent specialist. The obverse shows bright reddish-yellow coloration that deepens near the rim to sunset-orange. The reverse is a deeper, intense orange-red. Neither side reveals any singularly mentionable surface blemishes, and the strike is as full as can be expected for the issue, with sharpness up to the feather tips and four diamonds visible in the ribbon on the obverse. Minor flecks are undistracting and testament to the originality. PCGS Population: (9/0). NGC Census: (1/0). CDN: $10,000 Whsle. Bid for NGC/PCGS MS66. Mintage 9,826,500.

1866 1C MS66 Red PCGS. Ex: Ally Collection. A lovely Gem for the advanced Indian Cent specialist, both sides are aglow in golden-orange luster. The texture is mostly frosty, but a few angles reveal modest hints of brightness in the fields. Neither side reveals any singularly mentionable surface blemishes, and the strike is as close to full as one should expect for the series. Population at both services combined: 6 in 66, none are finer (11/05).

1866 1C MS66 Red PCGS. This is an extremely rare date in high grade and with full red color. The MS66 Red coin we offered in our 2003 Baltimore Sale realized an astonishing $14,375. This is a lovely coin that has original cherry-red surfaces with lighter, orange-red coloration in the center of the obverse. Very sharply struck with complete definition on the feather tips of the headdress and also on the reverse shield. Only three other pieces have been so graded by PCGS (one by NGC) with none finer anywhere on the horizon (10/03). (PCGS# 2087)

1866 1C MS66 Red NGC. This is the first MS66 Red example of this date that we have offered at auction. For that matter, our records indicate none of the other major auction houses have offered one either. This is a splendid example and a coin that we dare say is unimprovable. The surfaces have a smooth, lustrous finish with original orange-red coloration. There are no reportable abrasions on either side and the striking details are complete throughout. An immensely attractive example of this very scarce, early bronze Cent. Population: 1 in 66, 0 finer (7/02). (PCGS# 2087)
