1917 1C MS68 Red PCGS.A must-have Lincoln Cent for the registry set enthusiast, as neither service has graded a single finer example and this is one of only two pieces so graded by PCGS. It is sharply struck, free of any mentionable marks or abrasions, and has unblemished, satiny mint red luster on both sides. A terrific example that really looks as good as it sounds. 1917 1C MS67 Red PCGS. A mesmerizing, Superb Gem that incorporates pinpoint sharpness, fiery color, and bountiful luster, all rolled into one dynamite early Lincoln. Struck in massive numbers (over 196 million pieces) and quite common in Uncirculated grades, yet this vibrant 1917 Lincoln towers above the typical Mint State example. 1917 1C MS67 Red PCGS. The 1917 Philadelphia cent is common in circulated grades, and Mint State coins grading through MS64 are readily available in all color designations. Even fully Red Gems and Premium Gems are obtainable with a little patience, but Red MS67 coins are elusive. PCGS has certified 10 such pieces, and two finer, while NGC has seen no examples above MS66.

The fully Red MS67 cent in the current lot displays lustrous orange patina interspersed with blushes of lime-green. The design elements are exquisitely impressed, including excellent definition in Lincoln's beard, hair, and bow tie. The only area of minor weakness occurs in the lower right lines of the right wheat stalk. Near-pristine surfaces are virtually devoid of mentionable abrasions or spots. The Lincoln cent specialist will not want to miss out on this gorgeous coin. (PCGS# 2497)

1917 1C MS67 Red PCGS. Of the 1917 Lincoln Cents we have offered, only the extraordinary Mershon coin and the equally remarkable 2005 FUN specimen can compare to this exciting example. Both sides display phenomenal radiance and golden-orange color, being separated from an even higher threshold by a few microscopic flecks of carbon on the reverse. 1917 1C MS66 Red PCGS. This well struck cent displays a fresh, vibrant appearance, with bright luster that gleams from the satiny, beautifully toned orange-gold surfaces. The reverse seems pristine, while the obverse only shows a single carbon speck, and two or three really tiny contact marks. The coin's grade assessment may be respected even further, by virtue of its residence in a first-generation PCGS holder. A simply splendid premium quality Gem. Population: 105 in 66, 10 finer (9/04).
