1943 1C Lincoln Cent--Struck on a 1943 Mercury Dime--MS62 NGC. Not everyone can afford to purchase a 1943 cent struck on a bronze planchet. But the opportunity to secure a 1943 cent struck on a 1943 Mercury dime is here, and is likely just as elusive as the more famous wrong-planchet error. On this piece, a nearly complete outline of Liberty surrounds ONE CENT, and the fasces axe is clear above Lincoln's ear. Most of the dime date is visible, although the 3 is weak. A brilliant, lustrous, and lovely error.

1956-D 1C Lincoln Cent--Double Denomination on Struck Roosevelt Dime--AU58 PCGS. An error coin in an erroneous slab, mislabeled by PCGS as a 1956 P-mint Lincoln. The Lincoln cent is struck, obverse to obverse, about 160 degrees rotated on an already-struck Roosevelt dime. GOD RUST from the dime is visible in Old Abe's hair, with a clear 1956 dime date behind his head, and most of the outline of Roosevelt's head is visible. The major details, date, and mintmark of the Lincoln cent are bold. On the reverse DIME is visible upside-down above ONE (CENT), and the top of the Roosevelt dime torch can be seen in OF AMERICA of the cent. No mintmark from the dime is visible. The edge of the coin, visible through the PCGS slab, is clearly reeded from the original dime planchet. The coin has darkened, but little wear is evident.

Slightly uncentered toward 1 o'clock, with much of IN GOD WE TRUST off the flan. The right side border is softly impressed due to the undersized flan, but the first three digits of the date are bold, and the 7 is identifiable.

All legends are intact, although IN GOD WE TRUST and the L in LIBERTY are tight against the rim.

1989 1C Lincoln Cent--Struck on Clad 10c Planchet--MS66 PCGS. Mis-labeled on the holder as a 1980. Bright and highly lustrous, with light golden toning. The 198 date is bold, except that the bottom half of the zero is missing, and the very tops of UST are truncated. On the reverse, the tops of UNITED STATES OF AMER are gone, and the central Lincoln cent design details are distorted and mushy over the lower right steps of the Lincoln Memorial. Two or three small abrasions are apparent in the same vicinity. An outstanding example of this rare error type.

1952 5C Jefferson Nickels--Split Planchet After Striking--XF40 PCGS. An interesting pair. One can speculate about why the planchet split, perhaps it was faulty in that area, perhaps dirt or other debris clogged the planchet strip, etc. This type error is more frequently seen with clad coinage when the clad layer does not bond. That, of course, is not the case with a nickel, and such an error would be just as rare today as it was in 1952. It is curious that the pieces grade XF40, suggesting they may have been carried as pocket pieces for some time. Lightly toned with streaks of darker color around the margins. (Total: 2 pieces)

1998-P 5C Jefferson Nickel--Struck on a 1997 Cent--MS66 Red NGC. The first three digits of the cent date are faint, but the 7 is unmistakable, and nestled on the upper right corner of Monticello. The 8 in the nickel date is bold, as is the Philadelphia mintmark. A ghostly image of the Lincoln Memorial overlaps Jefferson's portrait, and on the reverse, an outline of Lincoln emerges from the left wing of Monticello. Orange-gold with rose highlights. The surfaces are smooth aside from distributed tiny trapped air bubbles, as made.

The mintmark is clear. A well-preserved and pleasing example of the wrong-planchet error type.
