1877 1C MS64 Brown NGC. Snow-1. Glimpses of gold color emerge from the legends and wreath, with deep chocolate-brown patina elsewhere. Although the right borders are not fully struck, the design is generally sharp, and this impressive key date near-Gem is splendidly preserved. The 1877 has by far the lowest mintage of any Philadelphia Mint issue of the type, and NGC reports only 11 finer in Brown (5/25). Housed in a Generation 4 fatty holder.

1877 1C MS66 Brown NGC. Although officially given a brown Mint State designation, there is a significant amount of faded crimson-orange color in the protected areas. The strike is so well executed that even the normally mushy area at the lower right tip of N in ONE is atypically sharp. Only a bit of haziness in the exposed fields proves the least bit distracting on this prized Indian Cent rarity. Census: 1 in 66, 0 finer (11/05).

Circulation strikes are readily differentiate from proof coins by the shallow lower right base on the N in ONE. This piece is unworn and satiny with copper-orange and reddish-gold coloration. PCGS suggests the coin may have been dipped and recolored red. (PCGS# 2127)

1877 1C MS63 Brown PCGS. Eagle Eye Photo Seal, card included. A generally sharp strike complements satiny olive-brown and deep burgundy patina on this Select Brown 1877 Indian cent. The top three headdress feathers show only slight incompleteness at the tips. On the reverse, the shallow base on the N in ONE is a diagnostic of the circulation strike coinage this year. Abrasions are minimal for the grade. (PCGS# 2127)
