1875 3CN MS67 PCGS. After the economic disruptions created by the Civil War, silver coins had fully returned to the channels of commerce by 1875. As a result, the 1875 three cent nickel was the first date in the series with a production run below a quarter million coins. This is a brilliant and exceptionally lustrous example that is fully struck throughout. Nearly perfect surfaces, three cent nickels are very scarce in such a superior state of preservation in business strike format. Population: 1 in 67, 0 finer (8/05). (PCGS# 3743)

1875 3CN MS67 PCGS. A lustrous and intricately struck example, virtually as struck aside from light chestnut color. Struck from strongly clashed dies, Liberty's inverted profile is completely outlined on the left reverse field. 1875 is the first date in the series to have a production below 250,000 pieces, silver coins had returned to circulation by this time. As of (1/05), the present Superb Gem is the single highest PCGS certified 1875 Three Cent Nickel. Surprisingly, among proof strikings, no 1875 pieces have reached the PR67 level.

1875 3CN MS67 NGC. FS-006.5. The serif of a 1 is misplaced along the left border of Liberty's neck, similar to better known Indian Cent varieties FS-010.82 and FS-011.5. A satiny and sharply struck Superb Gem, beautifully preserved and nearly untoned. Both proof and business strikes of this variety are known. As of (4/05), the present piece is the single finest NGC certified example of this interesting misplaced date variety.

1875 3CN --Misplaced Date--MS66 NGC. FS-006.5. The serif of an errant 1 is noted on Liberty's neck, just above the truncation. Sharply defined for the issue, the surfaces show a soft, frosty texture and a generally untoned appearance. Die clashing and spindly die cracks (as struck) dominate the obverse fields. Well preserved and free of contact marks, a lovely Premium Gem. (PCGS# 3743)
