1907-D $10 MS65 NGC. One of the finest examples of this date, the luster is strong throughout and the strike is sharp. Furthermore, and this is of paramount importance, the surfaces are simply outstanding. Of course there are faint ticks here and there, visible with a strong loupe, but these fail to distract from the visual appeal. Rarely do any Coronet eagles qualify for the Gem grade, and this is from the newly opened Denver Mint, which was in its second year of operation when this piece was struck. To date, there are six examples graded this high, with none seen finer from either grading service. (PCGS# 8764)

1907-D $10 MS64 PCGS. One of just over a million 1907-D eagles coined (all of the Gobrecht design), this is a superior survivor. The frosty apricot-gold obverse has a few isolated copper spots in the left field, while the reverse has more booming luster and small, scattered marks. NGC has graded just six coins as Gems or better, and this piece is tied for the finest certified by PCGS (10/06). (PCGS# 8764)

1907-D $10 MS64 PCGS. The second of only two Denver Mint issues in the Liberty Eagle series, the 1907-D is a surprisingly elusive coin at the present level despite a mintage of more 1 million coins. A lustrous and penetratingly struck near-Gem with uncommonly unmarked surfaces. The base of the 7 in the date is repunched, the last year such an event could occur on the denomination, since the date was subsequently hubbed. Population: 36 in 64, 0 finer (10/05). (PCGS# 8764)
